We approach beauty with you in mind
My team and I strongly believe there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to designing a look for clients. We consider all things including your features, personal style, the dress(es), and the venue when it comes to figuring out what look will be best for you. That said, we do have a couple of standards to our approach: (1) your makeup should bring your best features forward (2) your skin should look healthy, youthful, and photographed nicely in most lighting conditions, (3) your final look is something that will always be in style. We like to express beauty in a modern & romantic way but also effortlessly elegant. We want you to look back at your wedding photos 10 years from now and still love the way you look.
In order to best understand our clients’ needs, we make communication between the artists (us) and our clients our number one priority. What we mean by communication is that there is an agreement between your vision and what the artist feels is the best design for your event. For example, when we get a request to have a “natural look”, we as artists know there are different levels and expressions of what “natural” means. Through a trial and discussions with you, we can ensure your vision is realized and you feel beautiful for your day.
Aimee & Team specializes in weddings, but we also design looks for other events including engagements, portraits or headshots and boudoir.

Yes! Aimee+Team will come to you with all needed equipments and materials to get you and your bridal party all dolled up and ready for the event. We'll take appointments in-studio for most of all other non-wedding related events. Travel fee may applied on wedding day if your location is more than 20 miles from AMA's studio (Daly city/SF)
Thank you for your full trust in our work, but for your best interest, we would strongly advice not to skip the trial. If you agree with us that every face is unique, not to mention your personal style and comfort level with makeup, skipping the trial means your makeup and hair design may have to be compromised and you're not getting the best out of our talents. For example, what if on the wedding day, we'll surprisingly learn that your eyes won't coopporate with gel liner or false lashes, and keep watering uncontrollably, or if your hair simply won't part nicely to the side that we want, etc This had happened before so I thought I should warn all future brides! Another great benefit of having a trial is that Aimee/Team get to review the trial after, and take notes and plan ways to improve the look and make it even more beautiful for the day of
You definitely can, but we normally do not recommend it. The focus of the trial should be about trying out the wedding day makeup and hair look for you, with your beautiful dress and many other details in mind, including bouquet, color theme, venue, time of day, indoor/outdoor etc. On the other hand, the look for the Engagement session is usually much more casual, fresh; or can be a lot more bold and fun too, depending on your theme. So, it's best to do it seperately. However, if it's still hard to have the 2 sessions done separately, you are welcomed to use our trial hair + makeup look for your engagement session.
We will send you a "Prepare for Trial" email prior to your appointment. But few things to considered before the trial AND before wedding day:
(1) take good care of your skin, if you have problematic skin, do seek a dermatologist or a reputable clinic to help you figure out a good regiment. If you have relatively dry or normal skin, feel free to indulge in wonderful facial masks. A few good brands in our opinion include: SKII Facial Treatment Mask, Origins Retexturing Mask, Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask, and Dr Jart+ Water-Fuse Sleeping Mask.
(2) have your brows cleaned up if possible (waxed or threaded)
(3) pay your favorite hairstylist a visit (especially 2-3 weeks before the wedding day) for a cut/trim or get a shine treatment to get your hair looking its most healthy. If you're unsure how long you should keep your hair length at, ask us before the trial.
(4) on trial day, please try to wear a neutral colored top (black is ok too) with neckline similar to your wedding dress if possible, meaning open neckline or tube top, yes! This way we can envision the whole look better. Avoid bright colored tops or high neckline tops.
There'll be a 20-30m consultation first for Aimee/Team to get to know you before we start the trial. The whole makeup and hair process should take about 3hrs total. Therefore, save 3-3.5hrs for our full session. It seems like a long time but it actually will go by very fast.
