Mexico City Inspired | modern & refined with rusted orange, dusty pink and muted yellow

Jessica Sung from Blushing Joy Events did it again! Whenever I work with Jessica, there’s this consistent feeling that I would take away with after each work day with her: calm and easy! I often wonder how did she make it so effortless? She always has this smiley face and positive energy about her. Nathalie Cheng is pretty much the same! Truly a great duo!

For the makeup in this shoot, I gave the eyes a little fuller lashes than my usual work, because my model doesn’t have a lot of eyelid space for eyeshadows, so to balance out her thick dark eyebrows, I had to go heavier with the eyes so that the eyes will stand out enough compared to all other strong features. My model unfortunately did not have the best skin either, so I spent most of my times trying to work the skin and enhancing the eyes. Strong contouring and blush on the cheeks wasn’t ideal because on problematic skin, less truly is more on the cheeks. My definition of a good makeup is about playing with proportion and colors to seek balance and harmony when it comes to a conventional celebration like a wedding.
